DeeDee Shehane, 55, of Emerson, AR passed away Friday, October 2, 2020 at her home. She was born on June 28, 1965 in Haynesville, LA and owned and operated Ruby’s Road Home Rescue Animal Shelter. DeeDee loved helping others and was passionate about rescuing animals. She was accepting of those the way they are and thought it was o.k. to be different. She was preceded in death by her twin grandchildren Braxton and Rowdy Dean; paternal grandparents Welcome and Fonda Burleson; and maternal grandparents W.B. and Jessie (Rogers) Lout. DeeDee is survived by her husband of 20 years Greg Shehane of Emerson; children Raquel Shackelford of Sarepta, LA, Amanda Shackelford of Emerson, Travis Smith (Jessica) of Shongaloo, LA, Alyssa Jones (Jason) and Megan Shehane of Rogers; father Charles Burleson (Connie) of Waldo; mother Donna (Lout) Burleson of Strawberry, AR; brother Charles Russell Burleson (Tina) of Emerson; grandchildren Hayden Dixon, Kasyn Sanders, Aubree Baudoin, McKenna Shackelford, Brynnea Jones, Farren Jones, Ryder Smith, Evan Smith, Landon Smith, and Kamdyn Roy; brother and sister in law Skip Bowling (Brenda) of Winston Salem, NC; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Atlanta Methodist Cemetery with Bro. Dennis Rogers officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. Visitation will be Monday, October 5 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Hayden Dixon, Steve Rogian, Dave Sanders, and Kevin Glass. The family requests memorial donations be made to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
