James Henry Bethany, 67, of Ozan, AR passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Methodist Dallas Medical Center in Dallas, TX. James was born October 23, 1952 in Springhill, LA. He was a service technician for Pilgrim’s Pride in Nashville, AR. He was a 1970 graduate of Taylor High School where he was a FFA Member and loved showing steers. He went on to further his education earning a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Southern State College in 1974. He enjoyed learning about American history and agriculture and loved to hunt and fish. He is preceded in death by his father Juil Fay Bethany and a brother Joel Dennis Bethany. James is survived by his mother Maudie Bethany of Taylor; daughters Alicia Lorraine Bethany and her daughter Ella Bethany of Gorham, ME, Amanda Mendenhall of Magnolia, and Shannon Owen and husband Joey and their children Brianna and Abbie Owen of Stephens; sister Pat Jameson and husband Danny of Magnolia; niece Angela Stanford and husband Daniel of Magnolia; nephews Brandon Allen of Jonesboro and Eric Bethany of Springhill; and a host of extended work family at Pilgrim’s Pride. A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Jeremy Langley officiating.
