James E. Thompson

August 16, 1935 - April 25, 2022

James E. Thompson, 86 of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 25, 2022, at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia. James was born on August 16, 1935, in El Dorado, Arkansas. James’s work in the Emergency Medical Services as a paramedic was also his passion. He worked for several EMS services, Columbia County Ambulance, Lafayette County Ambulance, and Pafford Ambulance Services. Through years of his EMS experience, he became a teacher of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) for the University of Arkansas Community College in Hope, Arkansas. He was of the Baptist faith, enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He loved taking care of and spending time with his canine companion, Bella. James is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Ada (Cameron) Thompson, brother Vivian F. Thompson, and sister Catherine Hanna Cates. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda Thompson of Magnolia; daughters Tena Sanders, Tami Jones, and Tara Thompson of Magnolia; grandchildren Dave Sanders of Magnolia, Stefanie Riddle (John) of Longview, Texas, Sarah Morrison (Colton) of Denver, Colorado, Kennedy Kuydendall and Kade Kuykendall of Magnolia; great grandchildren Harley Riddle of Longview, Kasyn Sanders of Magnolia, and Lincoln Morrison of Denver; sister in law Sue Roberson of Bella Vista; faithful companion Bella; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the College View Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Bullock officiating. Burial will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Cemetery in Lillie, Louisiana under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Columbia County Ambulance Service, Lafayette County Ambulance Service, and Pafford Ambulance Service.
