Julius Boots Smith

January 22, 1930 - July 11, 2020

Julius Boots Smith, 90, of Stephens, AR passed away Saturday, July 11, 2020 at his residence in Stephens. Julius was born January 22, 1930 in Old Town in Lewisville, AR to the late R.S. and Ollie (Lindsey) Smith. He was a security guard and retired from the Alan White Company and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Waldo. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard and was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger years. Julius loved spending countless hours playing and teaching family, friends, and his caregivers how to play Rummy and Dominos. He always had a faithful companion, his dog, who he loved to spoil. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings Quilla, Berta, Edna, Hugh, Callie, Robbie, Paul, Lois, Dalton, Hershel, C.W., and Charles; mother of children Icie Gem (Sutton) Smith. Julius is survived by his children Ann Baker and husband Barry of Magnolia, Gary Don Smith and wife Pat of Hot Springs, and Stacy Hollis and husband Kevin of Stephens; grandchildren Scott Baker of Emerson, Drew Baker and wife Megan of Magnolia, Christie Spriggs, Josh Smith and wife Miki, and Julie Miller and husband Brett all of Hot Springs; great grandchildren Chance and Carson Spriggs, Ireland and Smith Baker, Olivia, Charlotte, Sadie, and Duke Baker, Paxton and Pace Smith, and Lilah Miller. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. at the Shiloh Lamartine Cemetery in Waldo, AR with Bro. Sandy Carter officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia. Public viewing and signing of the guest book will be Tuesday, July 14 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Baker, Drew Baker, Josh Smith, Kevin Pennington, Brett Miller, and Chance Spriggs. The family requests memorial donations be made to the John R Williamson Hospice House, 2301 Champagnolle, El Dorado, AR 71730 or to Shiloh Cemetery, 1650 Columbia Rd 41, Waldo, AR 71770. The family would like to thank Boots’ caregivers, Lana, Sandy, and Lisa and the staff at Life Touch Hospice for their compassion and loving care they gave to our father and to his family.
