Marjorie Louise Johnson age 97 of Chilton formerly Richmond, Il. Died January 14, 2021 at Century Ridge Assisted Living in Chilton. She was born on March 6, 1923 in Evanston, Il. daughter of the late William and Florence Haigh. She married George Iver Johnson on April 24, 1948 at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church in Evanston, Il. Marjorie traveled extensively, she also loved camping with her family, and antiques, some she and George refinished. She had great fun dancing with soldiers before they were deployed. Her favorite future partner was George. The “Fratt Bundh” met regularly to play cards and dance. She enjoyed horseback riding in her youth and early adulthood. She was an avid reader with history and a good romance novel being her favorites. She was a great hostess and planned get togethers often at her victorian house in Richmond. Marjorie adored her grand, great-grand, and great- great grandchildren and they felt the same. She loved holding a baby and shared many stories with each of them. Marjorie worked for Allis Chalmers during WWII. She would fill orders for heavy equipment to be shipped to the war zone. She enjoyed working for The Chalet, Marshall Fields, Klippers Toy Store. When she moved to Richmond, she worked for the police department as a matron and was proprietor of Room 102 Antique Shop. She participated in the Richmond Strawberry Festival and organized trips for the Senior Citizen Club. Marjorie is survived by her children: Marjorie Voss, Magnolia, Ark, Douglas(Mary) Johnson, Chilton, Wi., Ronald (Fran) Johnson, McHenry, Il. eight grand-children: Deborah (Ralph) Flemens, Magnolia, Ark., Elizabeth (Jeff) Craig, Magnolia, Ark., Amanda (Joseph) Johnson-Vergara, Lake Elsinore, Ca., Steven(Jennifer)Johnson, Hartford, Wi., Jonathan (Dessarae) Johnson, Chilton, Wi., James Johnson, Torrence, Ca., Jessica Timmons, McHenry, Il., Michael (Kristina) Johnson, Hartland, WI. 18 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren. A sister-in-law, Lila Johnson and many caring nieces and nephews. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents William and Florence Haigh, a son-in-law Thomas Voss, a grandchild Barbara Catherine Wilson, a great-grandchild Tiffany Michelle and a brother William (Collette) Haigh. A Celebration of Life is planned for April 24, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church (6000 Broadway Rd) in Richmond, Il where she was a member. Rev. Andy Tyrell will preside. Visitation will be at 10:30 am, Service at 11:30 am. A committal service will take place at the Richmond Cemetery next to Grace Lutheran Church following the Celebration of Life.
