September 5, 1941 - March 1, 2020
Sue Dickson, age 78, of Magnolia, AR passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 1, 2020. She was born September 5, 1941. Sue left her broken body here on earth to find wholeness with her Savior in heaven. She courageously fought Parkinson’s disease for over 15 years, never losing her faith. Though she will be missed by all whose lives she touched, her deep commitment and unwavering faith were an inspiration. She loved to camp and travel, especially to gospel music concerts, classic car shows (where she proudly displayed her award-winning 1966 Mustang) and her granddaughter’s ballet performances. Sue was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, previously serving as Sunday School secretary and organizing meals for families. She was also a member of Steel Magnolias, helping to raise money with other breast cancer survivors. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Jurls and Ola Mae Guthry Jurls; four brothers, Ernest Jurls, Jr., George Jurls and Delbert Jurls; two sisters, Juanez Cook and Betty Harris. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Billey Dickson of Waldo; son, Allen Dickson of Waldo; daughter, Angela Dickson and her husband, Chris Gunn; granddaughter, Campbell Gunn; grandson, Isaiah Gunn of Frisco, TX; and sister, Jean Poindexter of Hope, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She loved them all deeply and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia, AR. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Micah Carter and Bro. Dennis Cook officiating with burial following in the Barlow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Cook, Tony Cook, Rocky Cummings, Ian Hufnagle, Mark Mitchell, and Paul Poindexter. Honorary pallbearers will be the Builders Sunday School class.
